Their mission is to promote a safe and secure community through professional law enforcement stewardship, education, engagement, and partnership. UAPD has dual accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Services and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators, demonstrating the department’s commitment to professional excellence. UAPD also takes a proactive approach to safety, by participating in outreach events throughout the academic year.
The UA Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) is composed of various campus officials who are involved with the management of emergency incidents on campus. In the event of emergency, CERT’s highest priority is ensuring the health, safety and well-being of those on and off campus. As needed, CERT members coordinate with other organizations, including the Pima County Office of Emergency Management, to resolve emergency situations.
UAlert is a free service that delivers emergency alerts to UA students, employees, and their friends and families. UAlert provides real-time updates via email or texts to mobile devices. These updates are administered by members of the UA’s Campus Emergency Response Team and are only sent to subscribers during critical situations to provide them with important information and instructions. Once the emergency is resolved, subscribers are also alerted that the situation is “all clear.”
The UA wants to ensure that students can get around campus safely and with ease. The CatTran provides shuttle bus service across campus free of charge to students and campus visitors. The CatTran operates various campus routes, making it easy for students to get to their destinations quickly and conveniently.
You can even track the CatTran shuttle buses in real time by visiting their website or downloading the free mobile app.
Since 1981, SafeRide has provided free nighttime transportation to UA students. It is managed and operated entirely by UA students under sponsorship of the Associated Students of the UA. Students can simply call (520) 621-7233 and show their CatCard identification card to enjoy SafeRide service. In addition to providing a safe transportation method for traveling at night, SafeRide also serves as a friendly and official presence around campus.
